Aster

ILR # 63858

female  b. 6-7-1988

Yo Yo Ma Llama x Lily Studley

Aster is 44" at the withers and one unbelievable bundle of energy and brains. She belongs to no one; we are her mentally-challenged servants. It’s not that she rubs it in ... just that ... she makes it really obvious we’re not in her league.

Aster is here on a breeding lease from JNK Llamas. Even if she proves too old to conceive, we’re certainly enjoying Aster's entertaining ways and smarts.

It’s a very good thing most llamas are not super-smart and easily bored like Aster ... not just because she (and her kids) already have the average human’s number, but because in the hands of the average idiot breeder, a true disaster would be the inevitable result: Imagine Aster’s energy and brains coupled with territorial aggression ... or just an unwilling attitude! Not saying that anyone who foolishly creates that doesn’t deserve exactly what they get ... just that the resulting llama would pay with its life. Fortunately Aster has good stewards who make sure her babies are matched with suitably energetic and sharp humans.

Nobody knows how Aster got her name. Those who play the fool and fall victim to her clever antics call her “Asteroid” ... but the joke’s still on them!

Meet some of Aster’s offspring:

1994 male — Isle Eagle (PLTA MPL, Delta Society Pet Therapy Llama, the best harness llama today and perhaps of all time, and the most award-winning show llama alive)

2005 male — The Canadian's Miracle

2007 male — JNK Tobias's Tatum

Aster is bred to Rocky Mountain Highlight and due early April 2011

• We plan to retain Aster's 2011 offspring for extended evaluation
