Lost Creek Kahlotus
ILR # 274897
nonbreeder female b. 12-27-2007
Sky Rocket x Megan Summer Socks
Kahlotus inherited her parents’ functional gaits and excellent disposition, and she was definitely one of the most athletic, energetic babies we'd ever seen ... she regularly performed “airs above the ground” and amazed us with her strength, balance and lightness. However, Kahlotus also inherited her mother’s and maternal grandsire’s smaller size, maturing at 40.25". That meant nobody would ever take her seriously as a packer; her disinterest in humans-as-friends sealed the deal.
Kahlotus spent her youth as a companion for some older an compromised llamas. When the last one passed away, Kahlotus returned here in late 2019 ... 100lbs overweight. Ugh! We could also see she still wasn't thrilled with her pasturemates (they'd grown apart). Instead, Kahlotus rather preferred to hang out with our geese and protect them.
Kahlotus then found new employment as an alert (semi-guard) llama at a goat rescue, but she lost that job and home when the rescue founder unexpectedly passed away. She returned here for awhile in 2022 (needing to lose weight, again) and has since found a new guard home. We hope it's her final move, but if not, we're still here as her safety net. :-)
Kahlotus is a town in Washington state, with an unclear word origin. Most agreement is that the word derives from a native language, and refers to water in a hole in the ground ... a lake (in the case of the Washington locale) ... or a spring ... well, our Kahlotus certainly springs!
